When I did the install, I didn't get a prompt to insert the second
dvd. I've done the install on two different machines, and neither
time was I asked for the second dvd. I did use the second dvd to
install mac classic on my wife's machine, so our son could run some
games we have for him, and to do my initial install of xtools, but
otherwise, I've never used the second disc, so no clue why it's
asking you to insert it. Could be a difference in versions. I'm
fairly certain the version I installed to both machines was 10.4.0.
Of course, since then we've upgraded, and are both running 10.4.6,
but no clean dvds for that install.
However, when I got 10.4.3 from apple, it was a single dvd. Could be
because it was an upgrade, don't know, since I added it to the box of
mac dvds we have of original software, and never opened it, it's
still shrink wrapped.

Ok, I'm still not getting my question clearly answered here. I did
borrow a dvd from somebody once that was all self-contained.
However, with the two dvds I now use, you are prompted to insert
the second dvd and I don't see anything saying this is optional.
Those of you who are doing it all with one dvd: what are you doing
when it prompts you to insert the second dvd?
