This is interesting.
I have the adapter that came with the mini, and it's a dvi to vga  
adapter as well.  It doesn't have the svideo port on it, so maybe  
that's the difference.  However, dvd player still insists I don't  
have a monitor attached when I don't have a monitor plugged in.
Interestingly enough, apple's dvd player, and softcon's dvd player  
report different errors for the same problem.

Apple's dvd player says error initializing playback device, mine says  
no compatible playback device present.
Both of these errors are listed in the dvd  playback api reference,  
so I'm wondering what apple is doing differently, or if they're just  
reporting generic errors instead of specific ones like I do.
Just curious, nothing more.  But thought I'd mention it for those who  
were wondering at the difference.
