Jane, what they're talking about is the read aloud function of
adobe. There are security settings you can set when the pdf is
created that allow or disallow different things. Read aloud is one
of these settings. I've never had experience with this, but my guess
is that it only enables the read aloud functionality, not actually
implements it.
