I think it's in Finder preferences. There's a checkbox to not show extensions. Of course, that'll hide all extensions. The fact that it's hidden doesn't mean it's not there, however, so if you transfer it to another device, the extension might be visible at that point. The subject pretty mucvh sums it up. How do I keep the .txt extension being added to downloaded files? In particular, I download .brf files from WebBraille, and whenever I do this, even after renaming the files, they still show up as .txt on my BrailleNote, so I have to rename them again. Any thoughts? Jane
