When you join a channel by double clicking, you should hear them right
away. Problem is, the Mac Version of ventrilo uses a codec called speecs.
If ventrilo servers aren't using that codec, you won't hear anyone and you
won't be able to talk. You will know if this is the case because when you
connect to a server that is using the gsm codec as opposed to the speecs
codec, a dialog will appear telling you this. Regarding Chat, that is text
chat not voice chat. Hope this helps.

Hey John. What you need to do is Vo keys shift space bar twice on a
channel name. That simulates a double click. That will get you into a
channel.
