Hi Tim. OK, I just turned off VO, and back on again. It's still in
character mode, when it should be in word. So I'm wondering if this
is just VO. It really is most weird. In fact, now that I've turned
VO off and on again, hitting VO+L isn't reading the current line either.

then on VO or Quit then restart Mail and the problem goes away.
Still can't seem to get the character/word thing though. The
