Ok, I think I can answer much of what you're asking.
I've just converted from Windows to Mac and the best thing I found
was to forget about Windows completely when learning the Mac as they
are (in my view) 2 different systems and trying to compare one
against the other just confused me.
Yes, the Mac is very stable and you'll notice this before very long
if you've used Windows systems. <smile>
You can use chat clients on the Mac, I use Fire here which whill
handle multiple account types say MSN Messenger, ICQ etc. I know
other listers have used other clients, I think some use the Ichat
client that comes with Os10 and I believe that some have used MSN
Messenger for the Mac. I tried Skype for the Mac but I didn't have
too much success with it but that doesn't mean that other people
aren't using it completely.
As a final piece of advise, enjoy your Mac and you'll most likely
find that you'll be migrating many of your tasks over to your Mac
but don't throw away your Windolws system just yet, VoiceOver still
has a way to go and I think we'd all be kidding ourselves if we
thought otherwise but considering the application has only been
around for 13 months then I think Apple have done a fair job.
If I'm wrong in anything I've said above or if anyone has an
alternative view then go for it.
