Softcon Dvd Player attempts to fill the gaps left by apple's dvd player. It allows you to either use the menus like apple's dvd player does if you can do that, or for those of us who can't see the screen, it gives us alternative navigation techniques. You can not only move between selections (great for dvds that have tv shows on them, since they usually have more than one episode on them) but it also gives us access to the extras on the disk, such as deleted scenes, behind the scenes interviews, and the like. There's also the capability of choosing the audio track you want to listen to (english, french, dvs, and so on) This is something we cannot do using the apple dvd player. So, the short answer to your question is yes, it is an accessible player, but the long answer is a bit more involved. All the functions I added work for us, and any sighted person who learns the keystrokes, but since I cannot (yet) add buttons and such to the player, most of the additional functionality is hidden from the casual viewer who does not read the documentation, since there are not buttons to perform the actions. One thing you may not like though, is that the title of the disc is not displayed anywhere at the moment. I'm going to put the title of the disc as the title of the viewing window, so that we can tell which disc it is, but I've not had time to do this just yet.
And, since you missed it, softcon dvd player is available at:

Hope this helps.
