You can turn off the address bar with command-shift-\.
The onlhy composition rrepetitions which happen or me is if I am
reading something I've written whether in an edit field or somewhere
else is if I go backwards and forwards through the composed content.
This is normal behavior since the cursor is actually between two
characters. It can take some time to learn how to work with it, but
I find it preferabble to the other style where it is necessary to do
more work to actually edit composed content.
