I use iris6. It's a gui app and does not read the output automatically but is fully accessible otherwise.

i've been on irc off and on and wanted to give it a try. i'd rather use a client. i'm not confortable using a command line based type of thing at the moment.

i all. are their any vo friendly irc clients for the mac? i hard of
one called chatzilla, does anyone know if that will work?if not are
their any others? i know fire will do irc but don't know how it
works. thanks in advance for any help.

Well, if you go to www.irssi.org you'll see that you can get a GUI client which behaves like the terminal app irssi. Or you could use irssi from a terminal. The trouble you'll run into though is that IRC doesn't read automatically so that you have no clue when new text is coming in on irc. I have a configuration here that will make the terminal irssi dump all network/channel output to one screen area so you can easily follow what's
going on. Because I'm on irc and IM a lot I've found it useful to use
bitlbee from www.bitlbee.org so that my instant messaging behaves like
irc so that I have all the chat on one part of the system. Of course
that depends how much you like IRC. If you want it I could send you the config that I have here for irssi. It is well documented and the help
system is good.
