I think:
rm -rf brf/*.brf
or rm -rf brf
would work.

Hmmm, I'm running debian linux. I just tried
rm -r *.brf
and also
rm -rf *.brf
in my home directory. I have a whole direcory named "brf" in my home
directory with brf files in it. None of these were rremoved;
only .brf files in the top directory were removed. I do understand
that behavior can be different in various distributions, but this
explains why I didn't expect "rm" to remove wild card-specified files
recursively butt only to remove a whole hierarchy recursively.
