Will,
There is nothing anywhere that suggests whether the voice support
will read the menus or not, but as it is meant to allow use of the
iPod without looking at the screen, it is a safe bet to assume that
the menus will speak. Rock Box, it is my understanding at least,
does not give you access to the iPod, it simply replaces the iPod
software with its own, which is totally pointless if you want to use
the iPod the way it was intended. I'm glad that Rock Box has worked
well for some, but a truly accessible iPod right out of the box will
be a great thing, and I think that is what we'll be getting.

hi
this sixth gen IPod won't read the menus structure will it? so what point?
we only have complete access to the IPod via rock box anyways, if
they hurried up and supported all the original formats that the
apple firmware does, then we all on equal footing
regards, will

You can put speech on an iPod now with Rockbox but that software
won't allow any music purchased via iTunes to play.

As an avid iPod user I haven't ever found a huge need for
talking menus, but I won't deny that it would simplify and
enhance use of the device. And it looks like the 6G iPod will
be speech capable. Here's one of several articles out there:
