You can use iTunes too download and play audible books on the Mac;
the accessibility issues should not prevent you from doing this. When
you purchase and download, if you have iTunes set up per the
instructions on the audible site, the file will open and begin
playing in iTunes. I've even burned audible books to cd with iTunes,
though that is a bit less accessible. And if you really want to avoid
iTunes except for the download and initial playing, you can even set
up audio hijack pro to make normal mp3 file of your audible book. If
you try to use iTunes and audible.com content and have specific
problems, either post here or go back through the list archives.
Certainly some of this could be easier, but you don't need to miss
out on audible.
