Although I've not tried it, I'm fairly certain you don't need sighted
assistance to update the firmware. It can be done from the os,
though as I said before, I've not needed to do this, so I don't know
the process.
I'd imagine you could do it with the firmware itself as you say, but
I honestly don't think it's necessary. I'll dig around and see if I
can find the process, then post it here if/when I find it. It could
be that I'm all wrong, and it can't be done from the os, but I seem
to recall reading somewhere it could, but I'll know better once I
find the instructions.
