Ok, well I'm glad someone raised this topic as its been one of
interest to me ever since I started using my Ibook with Apple Mail
nearly 4 months ago. When I started I was having problems with mail
I was sending from the Apple Mail client getting screwed up, turns
out that my ISP was fiddling with the mail so it wasn't Apple Mails
fault but I moved heaven and earth to try and illiminate what I could
to track down the problem and I found out allot of how apple Mail
worked in the process.
You asked how you turn HTML off for Apple Mail? Well, (by Default)
Apple Mail in fact doesn't use HTML unless you deliberately include
formatting, graphics etc so every message you write is plain text by
default. What's the difference between text and RTF? RTF allows more
flexability by allowing you to insert HTML formatted text and
graphics, In fact my experiementing has lead me to believe that Apple
Mail also makes extensive use of "qutable printable" I think its
called when a message contains formatted text and graphics, to see
evidence of this write a message say in Text Edit or Nisus Writer
express, open a New Message Window in Apple Mail, copy the text from
the word processor and paste it into the message body of the New
Message window. Save the message as a draft, open it and select the
"source view".
This has probably given everyone more questions than it was
originally designed to answer <smile>.
