Drag and drop functionality is standard in many, if not most, GUI
applications and support for using it with VO would make a lot of sense. I
have no idea why you'd think it is an outdated technology. By the same
logic so would keyboard hot keys for cutting and pasting. Those've been
around since the dawn of personalized computing.
