Just to clarify, you don't interact with edit fields; you simply go  
to the blank field and fill it in. I also have problems with safari  
since the 10.4.7 upgrade, though mine don't have to do with text  
fields; mine have to do with the slow loading of pages and/or with vo  
having to be turned off and on again. If you think it's a problem  
with the upgrade, you could try shiira instead.
