Hi all. With regret, I have decided that the time has come for me to leave this group. When I joined, it was in the hope that I could participate in a mutually beneficial and enlightning discussion regarding the Macintosh and specifically its uses and functionality for those of us dependent on or interested in accessibility issues. To a large extent, that has happened. It would be untrue to say that because of my membership of this group I have not gained substantially. And that is something for which I thank those members who have been of assistance to me in the past. However, in view of recent activity in the forum, I no longer feel that membership is a productive way to spend my time. Frankly, any group whose members include those who feel it necessary, find it amusing or have no other means than to abuse those with whom they are communicating is not a group with whom I wish to be associated. It's true to say that those individuals are in the minority. But they spoil things for everybody else, and we all suffer as a consequence. So, I again thank those list members who have been helpful, and I would have no objection if such people were to choose to contact me privately. However I feel that in view of the fact that children within my family sometimes see the content of these messages, it is inappropriate for me to allow those whose vocabularies do not allow them to express themselves in any other than abusive and or defamitory ways.
