A Couple of Questions

In the VoiceOver Help, I looked to see if there was a section on how to 
append text.  I was checking back to see where I had left off at the 
end of the text, and wanted to add more text to the message.  I found 
nothing that talks about how to do this.  I will continue to look; it 
may be there, somewhere.  Sometimes I get behind on mail and have old 
message that are at least five days old or longer, and I want to delete 
them at once.  How do I select the messages and delete them 
simultaneously, without having to delete them individually?  None of 
these messages are left on the server.  Hopes these questions made a
