Hello, as for scanning through messages in Mail, interact into the
(messages table,) arrow up or down without vo keys, when it starts to
speak, use vokeys and arrow left or right. Finedhow you want to hear
the list of mails, either subject line or name. Then simply vo keys
and arrow up or down through the list, then you can get an idea of
what's there. Once you have gotten to the bottom of the list, or the
top, it will loop back around, however, if you were reading (the
names in the from collu,) and you start hearing subjects being
spoken, then you have scannedacross the whole group. That's how I
illiminate a lot of listening.

In a sense, this user is right. In jaws, you can tap the shift key
and it will skip prompts. This way, you can bypass stuff that you
don't need to hear. Also, reading messages in mail does take a
million years as compared to jaws because it announces way too much
information. In outlook express, I can bang through about 100
messages in 30 minutes because I can very quickly hear the name,
subject, and whether or not it's collapsed or expanded. Vo reads
something like "disclosure triangle expanded, unread, date, name,
subject." Way way way too much info. I can see this person's point,
but not worth giving up the mac for. Until there is some kind of
vurbosity setting like in Jaws, I'll stick to outlook express on
windows because of the speed factor. Don't get me wrong, I love Vo
and mail. I use it all the time. But for extended email checking,
outlook wins out.
