Hi all.
My scanner is working very nicely. However, I have discovered that for
some reason my usb hub and my scanner do not want to work together. When I
plugged the scanner into the hub I got no errors but nothing happened. As
soon as I plugged it back into a usb port on the mac mini, the scanner
came to life. It's kind of a pain as my usbserial cable also prefers a
direct connection; since I only have two usb ports on the mini, that means
I can't plug anything else in as long as I am using those two. I'll be
able to unplug the scanner sometimes but I need the usbserial converter
plugged in all the time for my braillelite. But at least it does work.
Now that I have a scanner that is connected to a computer I plan to do
more scanning and would really apprecite some tips. I know this is kind of
OT so people can email me directly if they want to do so. I would like to
know how you can position a book so you don't get a bunch of garbage from
the edge of the adjacent page; there must be techniqeus for doing this. Of
course the simple solution would be to take apart all the books and place
them on the scanner a page at a time but that's not really practical most
of the time.
