Are you saying that you can't get past the installer, in other words
the installer app is running, but you can't get around it to do other
tasks? Have you tried using command + option + escape or go to the
Apple manu and choosing force quit? Perhaps you can kill the installer.

The other day I was trying to install a piece of software in my Mac

"There are errors in your installation. Please try again." How
can I get rid of, or move the Installer so that I can go into my
System Preferences and set preferences and customize my settings?
As it is, now, as long as the Installer is in the way, I can't get
to my desktop because I get a beep each time I try. It happened
when installing Garage band, when I got the error Message. Thanks
for any assistance. Richie Gardenhire, anchorage, Alaska.
