typing the capital K in my computer

Hi guys

something really weird has been happening with my computer for the  
last couple months.  When ever I try to type a capital k by holding  
one of the shipt keys and the k on my keyboard, voiceover just says  
"jump to selection" and doesn't actually write anything.  I started  
noticing this with TeX shop in novermebr or december, and have then  
noticed it in other applications too.  As in with this email, in  
order to write the capital k in the subject line, I had to turn on  
caps lock, press k, and turn caps lock off.  I guess I have survived  
this long like that with not too much problem, but has anyone else  
seen this?  What should I do?
