ichat not sending messages

Hi all

When I am talking to msn contacts on ichat, I can receive their  
messages okay.  Then, I send a reply to the message, and i get no  
reply back when one would be expected.  I hav have experienced this  
with multiple contacts.  I have reason to believe that I can receive  
messages but I cannot send them.  Has anyone experienced this?
