From what I've read on the Rockbox site the software can not access iTunes
purchased music. As you guys run out and buy this stuff I give you a reminder about DRM and what devices play what formats. Buy from iTunes and you get 3 ways to play your music. On the computer where you can authorize either 3 or 5 but I forget how many, by burning the music you buy to CD and on an iPod. You can not play iTunes purchased music on any other MP3 player without doing a lot of work to convert your songs or some work around like that. Podcasts are obviously different but watch yourself with the music. Think about how you want to listen to it in the end.

It will be interesting to hear what other people have to say about
this but the old saying applies I guess, just because something
doesn't suit or please you doesn't mean that it may not suit or
please anyone else.
I'm not sure about your statement regarding Rockbox not being able to
play content purchased from Itunes iether now I come to think about
it as I'm sure I've heard of it being done but I'll solve this
problem in a few minutes by trying it myself <smile>.

Ok, well I'm not an expert on this subject but I don't think you're entirely right as you can navigate some devices without speech. Ok, the Iriver I had for example, even though I had Rockbox on it I could still navigate the file and folder structure without it, indeed I did for quite some tie. I've also used an Ipod Shuffle and I just put things onto it as I needed it. Of course, I believe that the Olympus recorders would be extremely handy here etc. I'm sure other people have heaps to say on this.

hi all

i have a question for you all. if we buy all these albums and books and movies now off the itunes store, how are we going to take them on the road with us. the i pods don't bother to support the playback of itunes music files with rockbox, so aren't we wasting money buying all this stuff, as we can't access the folders without speech support really, so do you understand what i saying? smile while i love itunes now, we cant play the stuff we are purchasing on the move, accept on our computers
just my 2 cents worth
will
