highlighting text

hi

if i interact with a group item containing text and i am in the edit  
are, when i control a and copy to text edit the audible.co.uk site  
doesn't show the description of the book when i review the text i  
copied, but rather tha main page. how o i highlight text on a macbook  
computer when i am interacting with the text area itself
