Hi Gabe
Depends on what you're looking for. For the snes versions, try snes9x
at www.snes9x.com. For the arcade versions, you'll have to use MAME,
and you'll need a nice fast system and lots of memory to play them at
full speed (Killer Instinct II in particular needs a lot of
resources). Personally I prefer to play these games on my Linux
machine with a custom-compiled version of whichever emulator that
runs at full-speed rather than on my Mac, also some of the emulators
aren't exactly VO friendly though you can get by. Another thing to
consider is that Mac doesn't have very good joystick/gamepad support,
so if you're going to use one of those it will take some messing
around to get it going and you'll probably have to use it in keyboard
emulation mode via a mapping utility. Actually, I don't believe it's
support lacking in the OS itself just in the emulators (especially if
they're USB gamepads that comply wit the HID standard, most do), but
the result is the same.
As one poster has said before, you'll need the ROMs of the games. The
copyright issues basically boil down to this: If you don't own the
game, it's illegal to have the ROM. This is certainly a
simplification, but that's the gist of it in the U.S at least. So, if
you don't own the mortal kombat arcade board, you shouldn't have the
ROM of it--according to the law., anyway.
