Most acessible path from MSN to iChat

Hey guys,
Thinking of moving over to iChat for most of my instant messaging  
needs...previously I used Fire, but iChat has either become more  
accessible in the time since I used it or I've become more proficient  
with the Mac...or mayhap a little of both.  Anyway, the point is,  
I've searched around and seen quite a number of suggestions of how to  
get iChat talking to MSN via Jabber, which seems to be the only way,  
but most of them are confusing and some of the info is conflicting.   
There seem to be quite a few programs one could use to register  
themselves with Jabber, but I'm hoping that someone may know of a web  
site where this could be done without having to mess with some new  
app.  If not, which of the many apps available for Jabber and Mac  
works best with VO to get oneself registered, and any additional info  
on getting that connected to MSN would be helpful.
