Hi all,

I'm not sure what kind of recognition is appropriate,
but the phrase that came to my mind (as the name for
an award) is the one from the movie, "This is Spinal Tap"
where Nigel Tufnel says, "This one goes to 11" speaking
about his amplifier. I was reminded of the 1-5 rating scale
that Greg introduced for the new directory of accessible
apps. The quote about the background context for the
phrase, "This one goes to 11", makes it clear that you
generatlly just got more distortion, not amplification.

"A posting to the Internet group alt.fan.spinal-tap by Ray Abbitt
shed some light on the history of powered amps: 'Early Fender
Champs (a small, low-powered amp, probably intended for
practice) had no controls except for a volume control that
went to 11. And from about 5 on up, they didn?t get any
louder?just more distorted.' "

It's a nice idea that someone is listening without the distortion.
(Sorry if this discussion is too silly. For those of you not
familiar with Spinal Tap, the movie is a spoof -- a documentary
[or "rockumentary"] of Spinal Tap, one of England's loudest bands.)

Cheers,

Esther
