Thank you, Dane and Access!

I was a Windows, Outlook Express, user in 2000 because I had to be for
a job I was training for. Eventually, I was getting thousands of
spam/day because of this. Deleting it, hundreds/day, brought even more
into my e-mail client. Eventually, the PC crashed, I moved, and bought
meself an iMac G4 in 2004. Same year, I started again on a PC with
Windows XP. In attempting to access my e-mail on the PC, I was told I
had to fill out a survey before I could access my mail. This, I
stupidly did, with the result that my Mac through my e-mail account,
was getting up to a hundred spam/day. Finally set up my e-mail to
delete spam as soon as it comes in [I know, I miss some legitimate
mail; but, rather this than to get so much spam]. Now, once in a grand
while, it still happens. Also have a PC notebook running XP but I
refuse to use IE and OE; using instead FireFox or Netscape Navigator.
Nor do I do any internet buying unless I absolutely have to [and only
give out the barest of required information on me]; rather, I check to
see if they have what I want, and if should they have a phone number
listed, I call them to place my order.

I an not a computer whiz, nor do I contend so to be; but, I do learn,
eventually, why and what I can do to get rid of and to avoid spam;
and, how even Macs can get spam. In my case, it was from being too
stupid on a Windows machine.

Hope my personal experience can be of benefit to someone.

JG.
