Uh. ... No. Linux and BSD ain't the same. While they are similar,
they're definitely not the same. BSD, in fact, predates Linux by
several years, at least a decade. The kernel architecture is quite
different. GNU/Linux is a Unix-like operating system (i.e. a Unix
clone). BSD is an honest-to-goshness unix. Linux was created by a
college student in Finland because, at the time, he didn't have a
cheap or usable alternative. It took off, especially after it was
licensed under the GPL and had lots of useful tools added to the
actual kernel in order to make a useful operating system
distribution. The several variants of BSD (FreeBSD, NetBSD, etc.) have
their roots at UC Berkeley, but of course aren't there anymore.

Anyway, similar, but not the same, and I suspect that members of both
camps would be mighty upset at the notion that Linux and BSD were the
same thing.

Not that it matters much except from a kernel development standpoint,
but still.

And of course, most Mac users couldn't care less about what makes OSX
run. You never have to really interact with the machine at that level
anyway...well...not usually, anyway. Above the kernel and some
standard Unix tools, OSX from a user standpoint doesn't translate at
all to any other Unix. (Probably a good thing...Unix and Unix clones
aren't known for user friendliness, generally speaking.)

There are several, depending on your interest.
