disk utilitiy

hi all

has anyone noticed, disk utility is constanly busy? when i open the  
iso file i want to burn to a cd i just can't navigate to find the  
image as all i get is disk utility is busy bus busy. i am running a  
macbook core 2 duo 1.83 GHZ. can anyone please advise?
i have mac os10.4.9. or can anyone else recommend a freeware program  
to burn iso files to cd, i gues toast titanium, while not free, will  
work?
