growl is great!
I have every program, including safari, mail etc alerting me via growl,
my mac even tells me when I connect a device, no windows or dialogues,
just speaks. for example when I connect a flash drive, a hard drive, a
usb sound card a hp printer etc it will tell me what connects and if it
could give me the brand and model.
all via growl.
