That is the danger of propriety closed source product. Unless they are
supported by a big company like Apple or Microsoft there is always the
danger of something happening to the author and then there is no
support or further development. At least with open source if something
happens to the developer others can step in and continue his work.
While Katieplay was a fine product it had some problems. Most notably
it would not play DAISY/NISO 2002 and 2005 books.
