Thanks for this Josh, a little explanation is required here I think.
I was wanting to put a freely available FTP client on an Ibook for a friend but having read the information you've given me Josh, I think I'll advise my friend to skip the free client and buy herself a copy of Transmit, I think its only 15 dollars U.S. and its 99% accessible with VO, you can find out the status of your uploads and downloads, how many bytes have been transferred, how many bytes left, how much time remain and how much time has elapsed. You can easily switch between "your stuff", that being the files and folders on your machine and the remote FTP site and one final thing, all the buttons are labeled with text so you can use vo-h to find out what each does.
Again thanks for your help.

I'm currently using CyberDuck as well, but the program has some serious flaws for me. The status of uploads is not accessible with VO being the worst of them. As I frequently ahve to upload very, very large files, I need to keep track of how much longer is left on them, and to be sure that they haven't stalled out. CyberDuck does not provide this to VO. I'm looking for another alternative. If I find one, I'll let ya know.
