We are still in business and you can absolutely still download both
trial and full versions of katieplayer for Mac OS X.

Click the download link (in the first few links you encounter on
the home page linked above) and that will take you to the page
which contains trial and full version download links.
katieplayer Cocoa is still in development though development has
slowed a bit. katieplayer is (and has always been) funded 98% out-
of-pocket by the lead developer/principal of Kafka's Daytime. Some
commercial work has been undertaken to bring in more funds for
katieplayer development. The commercial development efforts take
some time away from the katieplayer effort. We are also watching to
see what happens generally in regards to DAISY on the Mac software
development. katieplayer was originally developed as a sort of
social (versus a primarily profit-motivated) effort and to fill a
void (in the absence of any other DAISY software players). If Apple
or somebody else develops and releases a reasonably priced or free
player there might not be a need (or demand) for katieplayer's
continued existence.
That said, we're always interested in hearing the broader
community's thoughts on the matter.
