creating an apple id?

Has anyone on this list managed to do it with safari?  I got to the form 
where you create your id and was asked for my month and day of birth and 
couldn't enter them.  There were two fields on that line and I couldn't 
enter data into either.  Where the data ended up was down in my name field 
and probably would have been thrown into the rest of the fields on that 
form too.  I'll try it with internet explorer and probably get it done 
that way too.
