I totally agree with the below sentiments. I just got fission
yesterday with audio highjack pro and it has proven to be a verry
usefull tool. The best 50 bucks I've spent on software in a long time.

Hi!
Fission is the companion audio editor to Audio Hijack Pro and I'm
very pleased with my purchase of this product, now we can easily
edit audio. I was up until my purchase of Fission, using Sound
Studio for editing and it was a bit of a pain in the bum, you could
"scroll" through the audio file using time and the cursor keys but
the process was lengthy. Fission has the ability to scroll through
audio as though you were using the cue/review control on a cassette
recorder, that is to say you hear the audio as you're scrolling
with the left and right arrow keys. If you wish to select a portion
of an audio file for removal for example, you scroll till you come
to the begining point of your selection, press "I" on the keyboard
and the begining selection point is set, scroll on till you get to
the point where you wish your selection to end and press "O" to
select the end point, your selection is made so you can press the
delete key to remove the selection or press the "Crop" button on
the toolbar or select it from the tools menu to keep the selection
but to remove all audio outside the selected portion.
You can also perform "Split" points at the point where the playhead
is by pressing command-t, all these split points, start and end
selection points etc are shown on the screen and are very easy to
read with Voiceover.
Another nice feature of Fission is that it can act on Cue sheets,
these cue files are created by CD Ripping software, Max Ripper for
the Mac comes to mind here, for Fission these cue sheets (which can
be edited in say Text Edit) define the points where a wave file is
split into tracks. Fission can use these files to split a larger
wave file into say separate MP3 tracks.
This product hasn't been around long and still needs some tweeking,
the "Time Select" dialog box isn't accessible yet and I'd like to
see a "Jump to" dialog so you could type in a time value and have
the playhead jump to the spot, I've already made a suggestion about
this last feature and I'm waiting to hear back from the authors of
this software. Apart from those 2 things, I think that Fission is
quite definately worth the $32.00 one needs to pay to purchase it,
you save considerably if you purchase both Fission and Audio Hijack
Pro as a bundle, I did just that. I did think of writing about
Audio Hijack Pro, I probably will write a little but I think this
excellent application has been covered enough here as we have other
fello list members getting pleasure from it.
