Well from what I've seen thus far, Text Edit is a fully fledged Word Processor, something like Nisus Writer Express or Pro whereas Text Edit and Bean are toys. Nothing wrong with them of course but they are what I would term as being basic word processing tools.

It looks amazing.  I've barely scratched the surface, but just about
everything works.  You do lose focus sometimes from the main text
edit area and it istricky to get back.  Turning off the toolbars
fixes this problem and focus stays put.  I don't see any options in
the toolbars that can't be done elsewhere, so turning them off is not
problematic from what I can tell.  I am extremely impressed so far.
More than impressed, really. I am going to be 80 bucks poorer I think.
