Hello
I emailed the list about this a while back but didn't see my message
appear on the list let alone get a response.
I am still trying to install rockbox on my ipod so I can make it talk
and play .ogg files. So, I think that I haev rockbox working, at
least I can see that it boots up to something else when I turn the
ipod on. The font is, however, too small for me to read now, and I
can't figure out how to get it to talk. Here is what I have done
thus far.
Format ipod to fat32 by plugging into a windows based computer and
following the formatting instructions.
Plug ipod to mac, set it to not automatically sink with itunes and i
believe it is set to run as a disk as it appears in my finder when I
plug it in. I download the rockbox.zip file for ipod color/photo
(mine is a photo) and I unzipped it. After the .rockbox file was
unzipped, I had trouble finding it as it was hidden from the finder.
I discovered that I could access the folder with the terminal and
then copy it over using the finder to my ipod root directory. So, I
have a single .rockbox folder at the root of my ipod. It is hidden
from the finder but I am pretty sure it is there because when I type
open /Volumes/Justin ipod/.rockbox it opens in finder okay and I can
find all the rockbox files. Then I downloaded an english.voice file
and copied over to the langs folder under .rockbox. This is where I
am at now and I still can't get it to read anything. Could someone
tell me off list what I am doing wrong and moreover, what I need to
do to make it work?
Thank you
