I stumbled upon this by accident

Ok, I stumbled across this nice little feature by complete accident.  
If you hold down the option key and press volume down on your  
keyboard, you'll be placed into the sound section of system  
preferences, apparently this shortcut was implimented in one of the  
OS10 Tiger updates. I believe the same holds true for an Ibook or  
Macbook if you hold down option and then press f1, don't press the FN  
key by default.
