Well actually, Apple have the terminology right, it is an editor, a
very nice text editor and not a word processor, just because it can
save in Microsoft Word format doesn't automatically class it as a
word processor. If you're thinking of word processors then may I
direct you to products like Nisus Writer Express which I use, now
that's what I call a word processor, something with the ability to
add footnotes and endnotes, do complex formatting etc. Again, for
what Text Edit is, its a damn good text editor and should be thought
of as such.

You don't need to type things in word on the mac. Apple messed up
when they did this, but they called text edit an editor. It isn't,
it's a word processor and more importantly for windows refugees it is
able to save documents in word format.

So give me some ideas of whatyou do with your mac. I'm curious.
Can you do stuff like web browsing, email, instant messenging, type
things
in word and excelle, ETC?
If I can do all of this, plus be able to produce multitrack
recordings and
do audio production, I'm sold.
I've been using jaws for years and it works great, but this really
has me
curious about a lot of stuff on how well it truly works.

Hi Jed,
First thing you should do with your Mac is...
Forget everything you ever knew about JAWS. This knowledge (and
trying to
make corrolations with what you already know) will do nothing but
slow you
down and make you feel the Mac is not a productive environment for
you.
The next thing you should do (after you've forgotten everything you
ever
knew about JFW) is go through the Voiceover tutorial and learn
about ten
Voiceover commands. Then you can start to actually get some
productive use
out of your Mac.
Then, wait anxiously for Leopard, because it promises to have even
more
better Voiceover.
