That's a problem in WIndows screen readers frequently too, so certainly not Mac specific. Usually examining the immediate area around the field will tip you off to what the field name is.

The above was one example...jumping to form fields. Another is the scripting issue, as AppleScript is far more powerful than Jaws scripts or Window-Eyes set files. Neither feature has anything to do with VoiceOver and are frequently overlooked by users who expect to find that functionality in their screen reader instead as part of the OS.
