If you have your system idle long enough for it to burn a image into it then you just need a picture frame instead of a computer. I work and don't have more than a hour of down time and when I am not working I am sleep. If in those times my computer burns a image into the screen then maybe we should talk to
Apple.

Usually takes quite a long time to burn in an image. Mostly happens in industrial applications like ATMs where the same login screen is shown for days on end. Not sure this happens anymore with LCD.

Ok, here's my 2 cents worth for what its worth.
Firstly, I really don't know why screen savers are such an issue here as most of us cannot see them in any case, the best screen saver in existence is that which turns the monitor off. Now screen burning? Well yes, its been talked about but yet (to my knowledge and according to all the technical articles I've read), no one has ever managed to burn an image into a screen by leaving it displayed so that puts that myth to rest. So if you want a good Screen saver, just set your display to go to sleep after 1 minute or so, saves your memory, saves processing power etc.

OK, I've been fiddling around with the energy saver and screen saver settings. I know that you can ruin some monitors if you leave them on without a screen saver. However, I want to stop the monitor from shutting off when I am watching something like a DVD or an MLB ballgame. How would you guys adjust the monitor settings if you owned an imac?
