If you navigate to these entries, you hear VoiceOver say "rank" before the numbers. This is a clue to how relevant the answer is likely to be. For example, if I type "mouse keys" into the VoiceOver help search, the first entry that shows up is about how to click with your mouse, and it shows up at 100 per cent. Another related topic might be key combinations specific to laptops, like having to press the function key before the F5 key. But since that's a topic that might be skipped by desktop users checking for help, it has a lower ranking. Of course, if you had typed "laptop keys" a topic like "Using VoiceOver on a portable computer" would have had a higher ranking.
Notice that the information is laid out as in finder in columns. You can check the column heading with the same keystrokes, VO-keys+shift-c. If you do this just after interacting you'll hear "Topic" and if you VO-keys right arrow and then do VO-keys+shift-c you'll hear "rank". The rank is an attempt to assign a per centage number to how relevant the topic is to your search keywords -- if they show up a lot in the topic discussion, the rank will be 100 per cent. If they're only incidentally used in the discussion the rank might be 5 per cent. Incidentally, I'm glad you managed to get your soft install done. Thanks for posting a summary of how you did it. Cheers, Esther
