In order to get what I needed off the mysql site, I needed to try a different attack vector. I used Debian and Lynx to get to and download the file with no problems. I put it into an iso image on the debian box and burned it to a CD. After that it was just a matter of feeding the mac with that CD and copying the .dmg file onto my desktop on the mac. This time, the mysql preferences window opened up on my dock. I haven't got any farther than that with installing the database system yet but am happy to be able finally able to report success. safari needs work or VoiceOver's idea of what's actually coming up on safari needs work for now I'm not sure and won't know until I can get some sighted assistance to check out that mysql downloads page. After that, maybe some coherent suggestions for safari can be sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
