Subject: Re: How Accessible is an Ipod

i'll take this one.
lol
so, i've used a nano and a video ipod. It depends on the model of the
ipod, for example the 2nd generation ipod nano's and later dont have
speach support, (though i've found if you know your music you dont need
speach), and some agree with me, and some dont...
The video ipods and other mp3 players can be supported with open source
software called rockbox, www.rockbox.org i think. I could be wrong
though. It is doable, though as previously stated if you know your music
you dont need speach on the ipod.
Remember as well, if you use rockbox you can't sink your music with
itunes. Well, you can, but you can't access that music with rockbox.
Meanning music bought from the itunes store, napster, or audable wont be
able to be accessed with rockbox.
It became a grait pain to have to re boot the ipod just to listen to an
audable book, so honestly i think it not worth it. But that's how i
feel, and if your friend wants speach, he/she/you should check out
rockbox http://www.rockbox.org hth a bit!
thanks
