Depends a bit on what you are doing. When running Parallels my CPUs get hit pretty hard and the thing does get warm. I've also had web sites with crazy Flash ads that cranked up the fans. Another thing I've found is to be sure to not block the air vents in the back edge of the laptop (near the screen hinge). I've left my laptop on sitting on the couch and come back to find the fans going fill tilt because the couch padding was impeding airflow. Hope this helps.
