Let me be clear LaTeX will do all he wants but is VERY complex to
learn. Still for the blind its markup based system of layout insures
the very best quality.

You don't want Latex.

Latex? Is that another editor, or is it a helper application for
Text Edit? The wizards basically helped to make life easier i.e.
if I was writing a letter, it would get the recipient's address
from my addressbook and then set up a letterhead with my return
address, the recipient's mailing address, Dear whoever, sincerely
yours ... basically, all I had to do was write the letter.
Concerning fax coversheets, basically, there was a wizard that
would do the same thing -- get the recipient's fax number, figure
out the number of pages in the document, put my return info/logo on
the page and basically make it look nice. Again, not totally
essential, but was really quite handy at times. I wasn't sure if
something like Pages, I think that's what replaced appleworks,
would do something like this. I don't mind purchasing something
and going away from Text Edit, I just am not sure in which
direction to head and of course, I would want to make sure it'll
work with VO.
Thanks,
Steve

I'm not familiar with the little wizards that you mention, never
having had much contact with Word, but it would seem to me that if
I understood what these programs did it would be a simple matter
to write such wizards in AppleScript for TextEdit.
Of corse LaTeX can do these kinds of things as well.

One of the things I really miss being able to do with my Mac is
those little wizards in MS Word that help one write letters,
create cover pages, format documents, etc... At first I hated
those wizards, but as time has gone on, I've come to like them.
I don't see anything similar in Text Edit and am wondering if
there's another wordprocessing package that is more, well,
wordish? Something that contains templates and wizards to assist
with document formatting and/or creation?
Thanks for any thoughts,
Steve
