still think this needed to be answered.
Actually, you are editing the name not the file, and yes, you can do that.
Hit enter on the filename in finder, edit the name, and hit enter again. I
suppose if the name was somehow write-protected, you then just wouldn't be
able to edit it.
Btw, it's generally not a good idea to post the same question to two lists
at the same time. Since this is more a general question and not specifically
related to voiceover, I would lean toward posting it to the Discuss list
first. At any rate, no matter which list you choose, it's usually better
practice to submit to one list, wait some time for help, and then maybe post
to the other list if the first list can't help you. Announcements of course
often do come to both lists but that's different from asking for information
on two lists at the same time.
